My BIOS chip is corrupt or an update attempt has failed and now the system will not boot up.

A virus, incorrect BIOS file or power failure during the BIOS write process can lead to a corrupt BIOS. In that case, you have the following options:

1. Take the board back to place of purchase and get the BIOS flashed there.
2. If you have a spare working board of the same model, you can use the good board to flash the corrupt BIOS chip back to working order. But this operation is not recommended since it involves swapping the good BIOS chip with the corrupt BIOS chip while the system is still on! Once the system has booted into DOS prompt with the good BIOS chip, the good BIOS chip can be swapped with the corrupt one and the corrupt one can be flashed. Care must be observed! Avoid using a metallic object in removing the BIOS chip. Orientation of the BIOS chips cannot be reversed or damages to the chip or other components will occur.

NOTE: AZZA USA is not responsible for any damages as a result of trying the above-mentioned procedure.

My system locks once I am inside CMOS Setup.

This can be caused by poor contact between memory slot and module or bad memory. Try reseating the memory module or change the memory module. The same problem can cause OS setup problems also.

Where can I download the latest chipset driver for my motherboard?

For Intel chipset go to: www.intel.com
For Sis chipset go to: www.sis.com
For VIA chipset go to: www.viaarena.com

I have a Sound Blaster Live! sound card in my system and I get a blue screen (BSOD) in Windows or lock ups when I play 3D games.

*Please note that the above issue is not VIA chip set specific.

My system gives me all kinds of strange behaviors and reboots for no reason or reboots when I play 3D games.

1. Contact the game developer for updates/patches.
2. May be a power supply issue. Check this Anandtech article on power supplies: http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1128&p=4
